Tony Santurio Singer from Columbus, OH

Tony Santurio was born in Cuba, March 6, 1951. He was brought out of Cuba fleeing from the revolution's massacre of innocent people. The family settled in West Palm Beach, Florida. There Tony learned to read, write, and speak English. That fall he continued with his education at the Belvedere school where he completed the 3rd grade, before moving north to New Jersey. Tony was introduced to classical music by the talents of his younger sister, who at 6 years old performed her first concert, playing selections from Beethoven, Bach, and Lizt. Tony's introduction to the guitar came about the same time his sister was discovering her talent. The studies were short-lived because of the Cuban revolution. After leaving West Palm Beach, at first there was no money to invest in a guitar due to his parents' pursuit of his sister's ability to play the piano, which was first purchased. Eventually a guitar was bought and with his father as his first teacher, Tony was able to start developing vocally along with learning chord progressions, which enabled him to accompany himself with the guitar. His father was a song writer, having his songs recorded and performed by well-known Cuban singer Estelita Santalo accompanied by the well-known Cuban composer Baserba Soler. Tony was introduced to many romantic Cuban songs by his father. The most influential being "La Guantanamera" a patriotic song with lyrics from Jose Marti, a Cuban poet and considered the father of his country. With help from his father, Tony began playing and singing Cuban songs with his father harmonizing him, something that became a regular venue at his parent's parties. From romantic Spanish to American rock songs, Tony, a vocalist guitar player from the time he was 13, has performed many venues in New York, Florida, and Columbus Ohio. One memorable venue was a wedding where Tony sang the "Ave Maria" by Gunod, in Latin, accompanied by his guitar. Tony is also a composer with one album completed and another on its way. Equipment With his VocoPro Gigstar Karaoke machine powered by 100 watts, two 850 watt power speakers, a Fender Stratocaster, a Peavey E110 Acoustic Amp for his Fender Dreadnought acoustic, a Mustang 3 Amp, and a Behringer 115 watt monitor speaker, Tony can perform small and semi large venues. Tony sings romantic songs backed up by bands recorded on a cd, played on his karaoke machine, or with his acoustic guitar. I'm sure that you will enjoy his beautiful romantic voice.
