BIO: Since the age of five, Maali has been classically trained in ballet. Her talent and passion for dance was evident from the start and Maali continued in the dance arts throughout childhood and adulthood. When Maali traveled to the Middle East in 2001, she discovered the wonderful art of Belly dance. Upon her arrival back from the Middle East, Maali started her training in Cincinnati. She soon became a student of almost every teacher in the Cincinnati area from whom she learned belly dance styles such as Greek, Turkish, Spanish Fusion and Lebanese. She then traveled to Miami, Florida to study with Bozenka and traveled to Egypt for further training. Drawing from her experience in dance and theatre arts, Maali delivers a soulful enthusiasm in belly dance you will never forget! PERFORMANCE INFO: Performances vary based on what the customer wants. If you book an event far enough in advance, musical and costuming requests can be accommodated. Maali practices Egyptian style dance and has traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, so you can expect that she will be aware of customs and dance styles as well as the Egyptian language. If you are not Middle Eastern, booking Maali is a great way to see what a real performance is like. Performance sets include mainly Egyptian music such as Amir Diab or Farid Al Atrache. Music style ranges from upbeat and lively to slow and mysterious. Drum solos may be included. Special requests for music are accepted.
