Born in the ancient city of Sophia ("wisdom" in Greek), Kristina fell in love with Dance at the tender age of four. Growing up in the melting pot of European and Arabic cultures in her native Bulgaria, Kristina was exposed to fascinating rhythms and tunes. Whether flowing with the lament of the Celtic pipes or undulating to the hypnotic rhythms of darbukas, there was not much of a difference, as long as there was dance. Dancers are like snowflakes - no two are alike - and Kristina is known for her glamorous beauty, electrifying performances, soul shaking shimmies, amazing athleticism and her admirable flexibility. A dancing woman is a shape-shifting goddess behind a thousand veils, always seducing the audience to take off one, then another one, then one more, getting ever closer to the woman behind but never quite reaching her. Such is the mystery of the true artist. In order to achieve enchanting, multilayered performance, a dancer needs to study not one, but a thousand and one dance forms. Rigorous ballet and Ballroom training took Kristina to the highest rank in the International Latin Amateur Division when she was only 15 years old! Kristina won the prestigious title of US Rising Star Latin American Champion in 2005, Blackpool Dance Festival Semi-Finalist in the International Rising Star Division, ELSA International Rising Star Finalist, and has represented the US in many international dance events. The serpent-like wisdom and grace of her Belly Dance training made the child in her become a young woman, and the iron beat of the flamenco stomps taught her how to stand up for what she believes is right, New York style! Kristina has performed on stages such as the Royal Albert Hall, England; Cairo Opera House, Egypt; Alexandria Opera House, Egypt; Beijing Dance Academy, China; BBKing's Times Square NYC, among others During her travels throughout the world, Kristina has gathered the magic and wisdom of dance forms ancient and modern, weaving her own signature style which she calls the "Modern Gypsy". During Fashion Design studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Kristina further refined her aesthetic and fashion sense, and became even more sophisticated as a performer. Dicovering the world of Argentine Tango, having a passionate love affair with Flamenco and kicking back with Cuban Salsa only made dancing so much more fun! After transferring to the US as a Fashion Design Student, Kristina continued her multifaceted dance training in Jazz, Ballet, Flamenco, Brazilian Dance, African Dance, Argentine Tango and Belly Dance. Kristina is continuously expanding her performing repertoire, creating innovative choreographies, developing pioneer dance programs and perfecting effective teaching approaches. Kristina continues to perform, coach, learn and work on bettering her craft. One of her signature traits is the often surprising, eclectic fusion of dance forms.
