We are MacIntosh Pipe Band out of Larkspur, CA. We'd love to make your event special.
The MacIntosh Pipe Band, established as a parade band in the early 1980's, has grown from five members to thirty-five and is a consistently strong grade IV band on the west coast. The band was proud to be the 2000 Grade IV Champion of Champions in the Western United States Pipe Band Association (WUSPBA). 2001 was the year of the first ever Scotland trip, where the band took a third place in Inverkeithing, and did well at the Bridge of Allen, the World's Championships in Glasgow, and in Perth.
While the band is based in Marin County, just north over the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, the pipers, snare, tenor, and bass drummers, dancers and drum majors come from as far north as Woodland, south to San Jose, and east to San Ramon. Curently under the direction of Pipe Major Janice Richey and Drum Sergeant Robert Cameron, the band has been in existence since 1980.
The band is comprised of adult pipers and drummers, most of whom devote their spare time to fulfilling a lifelong dream of playing the Great Highland Bagpipes and drums. Traditional Highland dress, including kilts of the Ancient Hunting Mackintosh tartan, is worn when the band performs. The Pipe Band is a member of WUSPBA (Western United States Pipe Band Association).
The full MacIntosh Pipe Band can be hiredfor parties, weddings, funerals, parades, corporate functions or other events in the Greater San Franciso Bay Area. The booking can include highland dancers if required. For smaller events a mini band (two pipers, a snare and bass) or solo piper is available.
