The Difference (formerly known as 4 II C), is a group known for their unique vocal style, stage performance & smooth harmonies. The group consists of Jerry Hairston, Joe Shivers and Tony Jenkins. They are currently working on their upcoming CD "Transition", produced by "Blackstreet" member Levi Little. They have released 2 singles from the album entitled "Must Be Love & Break Your Promise." As individuals their professional careers span over 35 years in the music industry. They are quickly becoming one of the most sought after male vocal groups.
The Difference has performed at the legendary Apollo Theater in New York City as well as some of the Virginia's premier concert events such as: The Virginia Beach Funk Fest, The Hampton Jazz Festival's After Party, held at The Hampton Convention Center, Portsmouth's Umoja Festival, The Virginia Beach Soul Fest, CIAA & MEAC Basketball Tournaments and The Virginia Beach Events Concert Series.
They have contributed their time and talents to Community Non-Profit National Awareness Foundations such as; D.A.R.E., The Kidney Foundation, The Cancer Walk for Life Marathons and The Southeast Community Crime Watch Coalition. Their commitment to community service garnered them an invitation to perform at the 2009 & 2011 Summer Stage "Salute to the Legends" in Harlem, N.Y. The Honorees for these events were: Keith Sweat, Black Ivory, Freddy Jackson, Ray, Goodman & Brown, Blue Magic, GQ, The Delfonics (William Hart), The Manhattans, Melissa Morgan & Chuck Jackson. The artists in attendance were filled with delight as The Difference performed the legendary ballads "Any Day Now", "Special Lady" & "You & I."
The Difference have also opened for national recording artists such as, The Manhattans, Keith Sweat, The Ohio Players, Melissa Morgan and Cherelle. They have also shared the stage with Nationally Recognized Comedians Capone, Marc Curry, Coco Brown, Sherri Sinclair and Kool Bubba Ice.
In early 2009 they released their first single "Believe in Change" which was written & dedicated to President Barrack Obama.
Jazz Saxophonist Brian Pinner was honored to have the group perform the title track on his CD "Just Being Me." This song was also selected as one of the top 50 songs requested and played in the United Kingdom in 2010.
The Difference continues to put in the work, perfecting their skills & showmanship, as the road to success seems to be in front of them and they are moving "full steam ahead". The trio has been in the studio writing and recording new material. Make sure you pick up their first CD "THE INTRO (2010)" but look forward to the release of their upcoming CD "TRANSITION".
