Panyard Steel Orchestra Steel Drum Band from Akron, OH

We are a seven piece steel drum orchestra who plays an energetic show which could work in a concert setting, an educational setting, or a Caribbean background setting. We play the traditional styles of soca and calypso, along with a variety of latin, jazz, island favorites, and even classical, all on steel drums. A very entertaining part of the show is the historical instrument sets we play which include the Afro/Caribbean percussion ensemble called Tambu Bamboo which uses bamboo and 'found' instruments. This then leads into the 'Pan Roun' De Neck' where the band uses old fashioned steel drums slung around the neck and parade around the stage or through the crowd as they play island favorites.
