Elin also covers the classic jazz and Latin repertoires, thanks in part to her heritage and extensive jazz studies. Born and raised in Sweden by Peruvian and Irish parents - and fluent in five languages - Elin is the embodiment of multiculturalism. She began singing as a teenager in jazz clubs, and as the lead singer of Norrköping's Big Band when she was only 19, but quickly worked her way up to top venues, major events, international festivals, radio, and tv. She earned a degree in jazz & studio music at the University of Miami, where she was the first student ever to receive the Jon Secada scholarship award. While performing regularly in clubs and at private events in South Beach and the Miami area, she also recorded with the likes of Julio Iglesias and Roberto Carlos as a studio vocalist. Elin has been living in NYC for 10 yrs and just sold out Jazz at Lincoln Center for the second time. This year she also opened for Chaka Khan, George Benson, Stanley Clarke & George Duke at Miami's Jazz in the Gardens Festival. Her debut album "Lazy Afternoon" topped the jazz charts when it was released in 2006 and she is now working on her second album. Elin brings 20 years of experience & the utmost professionalism to every event and loves working intimately with a client to ensure that their vision is fulfilled. Her extensive experience has made her a very detail-oriented person who understands how to work well with different people in a variety of settings. She can easily provide a small & intimate sound or a large, energetic ensemble that will have you dancing all night! A male vocalist can also be added to the group for even more versatility and variety. Brazilian or Latin dancers & percussionists are also available for larger productions.
