When we think of a Witches Night Out, we think of broomsticks, cauldrons, and brewing potions. But for GigMasters’ client, Myra, Witches Night Out is not only a gathering of women for a fun Halloween celebration, but also a charity event to benefit the St. Louis Crisis Nursery.
This Witches Night Out party was held at a private residence in Missouri. Myra, along with a few of her neighbors, planned this Halloween party. This year' party marked the second time this group hosted a Witches Night Out event and Myra hopes it will become an annual affair. This group encouraged invitees to "bring another friendly witch if you dare." Opening the party up to friends of friends allowed their Witches Night Out celebration to include a good mix of people. The guest list included friends who were looking forward to seeing each other, and newcomers who would be meeting many witches for the first time.
This Witches Night Out event included a charity component. The witches hoped to raise money for the The St. Louis Crisis Nursery. This organization is committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. They provide emergency intervention, respite care, and support to families through short term care for young children in a safe and nurturing environment. At this year's event, the witches partied with a purpose and were able to raise about $400 along with several contributions of diapers for the St. Louis Crisis nursery!
The party hosts made sure that the house was decorated for this spooky shindig. The tables were topped with black silk tablecloths and decorated with purple and black candles. The centerpiece was a “Witches Brew” punch that was served in martini glasses. Ravens, mice and spiders from Martha Stewart's crafts were
scattered about to add to the Halloween decor.
Last year, the witches had a fortune teller accompany their evening. But this year, they wanted the entertainment to be more inclusive and decided to look into mingling magic. Myra hired Bryan Styles from Premier Entertainment as their magician or “warlock” for the evening and said that he was a hit with all of the witches.
Along with the magic show, the witches enjoyed costume contests throughout the night. Awards were given to the Best 'Sexy', 'Good', and 'Bad' Witch costumes. And of course no Witches Night Out would be complete without the burning of sage (for a little witchy authenticity).
Myra and the other witches were thrilled with the turnout of their Witches Night Out and are hoping to do it all again next year!
