Moms - they wipe tears, patch boo-boos, hold hands and mend hearts. For that and so much more, they deserve a whole lifetime of celebration! But, the least we can do is create a wonderful Mother’s Day event for all the great moms in our lives to enjoy. This year, we’ve put together some ideas to host a simple Mother’s Day brunch, luncheon or picnic that says “Thanks, Mom!”

Choose decorations that complement the cheery spring atmosphere. Theme idea: if the mother you’re honoring has a favorite flower, use it as the inspiration! Create centerpieces and a color palette that coordinates with the florals. We love the unique daisy decor and "grass" placemats in the photos above (via Hostess with the Mostess). Buttery yellow, robin’s egg blue and other pastels are also great colors to incorporate.
When it comes to a party, nothing beats the sound of live music. If the guests of honor prefer a particular style of music, like jazz or 80s, choose a singer of that style to serenade your event. Acoustic guitarists or pianists can also be crowd-pleasing options. You can even ask the entertainer to incorporate a few tunes that pay homage to moms. Here are just a few examples:
Mama's Song - Carrie Underwood
The Perfect Fan – Backstreet Boys
Tell Mama – Etta James
Mama Liked the Roses – Elvis Presley
A Song for Mama – Boyz II Men

As far as menus go, the choices are limitless. If you're opting for a brunch event, this crustless tomato-ricotta pie recipe from Good Housekeeping (via Delish.com) is light yet savory. These french toast roll-ups and mini frittata recipes from The Girl Who Ate Everything are also sure to be devoured. Don't forget the sweets! The cupcake "bouquet" above would make the perfect edible addition to your table setting. It can even double as a creative gift idea! See the how-to here.
What better way to show your appreciation than by hosting a Mother's Day celebration? We hope these simple tips will help you create a special day for all the moms in your life!
