City Mouse Americana Duo from Atlanta, GA

City Mouse, comprised of Brian Revels and Jenna Mobley, has become a staple of the Atlanta, Georgia Americana scene. Their music is accentuated by Revels' soaring lyricism presented with vocal harmonies, all atop a canvas of acoustic instrumentation with Brian on guitar or banjo and Jenna on the upright bass as well as her principal metier, bluegrass fiddle. City Mouse performs with occasional help from a host of noteworthy Atlanta musician friends, as a 'duo-led collective'. Following their debut EP, "Joy of Life," Revels and Mobley continue the City Mouse story with a rhythm that is both new and well-aged like a just-opened bottle of bourbon. Jenna's journey with music started in the fog of childhood memory but she often reflects on her earliest influences like the barnyard bluegrass jams on the Alabama co-op where she spent much of her early days or claw-hammer banjo lessons from her father. Brian was a young man in a family of matriarchical Baptist belles that sang hymns at church Sunday mornings and honky tonk anthems at the juke Friday evenings. In between they told stories, jokes and gossiped like a scene from a Mark Twain parable. Now, the duo blends the tradition and passion of their influences into a poignant display that harkens to the tongue-in-cheek earnestness of a John Prine song.
