Oregon Valley Boys Americana Band from Salem, OR

Together since 2006, the Oregon Valley Boys has nurtured a passionate following in the Pacific Northwest. Western swing was once a vital component of the region's music scene, and national touring acts barnstormed grange and dance halls, such as Portland's “The Drum” (later “The Flower Drum”) and “Division Street Corral.” The Oregon Valley Boys similarly performs at venues as diverse as the region itself: country and swing bars such as Portland's Landmark Saloon and The Secret Society; many pubs within the McMenamins chain; grange halls throughout the Willamette Valley; county fairs and festivals; weddings; major farmers' markets and the occasional rodeo ring. Oregon Valley Boys was named one of five finalists for “Best Western Swing Band of the Year” in February of 2015 by the Academy of Western Artists in Gene Autry, Oklahoma. The band released its second album, “Hey, Wait!” in March 2014 to enthusiastic international reviews among western swing lovers. Somewhat atypically for a current western swing release, 13 of the album's 14 tracks were the bands own original songs. In August 2014, band leader Randy Hill was inducted into the Pacific Northwest Western Swing Hall of Fame in Auburn, Washington. At the induction ceremony, band members shared the stage with such western swing royalty as Carolyn Martin (formerly of The Time Jumpers) and Texas honky-tonk pianist Lucy Dean Record. The group performs family-friendly music that appeals to people of all ages. The group dresses in the fashion of early western swing bands.
