Pittsburgh Harpist: Suzanne Hershey Harpist from Pittsburgh, PA

A professional harpist for over 30 years, I absolutely still LOVE what I do. The harp means everything to me and it brings me such pleasure just to play it for others on their special occasions. A little about me: I have played weekends at the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh from 1980 until 1984, three times every weekend in their Palm Court and Terrace Room; the Grand Concourse for thirteen years for Sunday Brunch; Saks 5h Ave. for special events and at Christmastime; the Palace Hotel in Tokyo for three months, celebrations in CA and Paris, and for many many weddings, and for special events for businesses and for building openings like Oxford Center in downtown Pittsburgh, and for dress shop openings. I am an expert at wedding ceremonies, receptions, dinner parties, business celebrations, holidays, anniversaries, and even at birth bedsides. I truly believe I enhance all occasions and I love what I do. I am incredibly mobile with my gold Lyon & Healy harp and have played for as many as eight hundred people at corporate events or for as few as a man and a woman in a wine cellar for their anniversary. I am a one woman show and I'm eager to please. I play lots of classical music when it calls for it and a jazzy Satin Doll with a Mozart introduction, along with other popular American themes when appropriate. I usually mix my composers according to what the audience seems to be enthusiastic about. For instance, if Bach bores them, I interject a very harpistic sounding piece that has been written specifically for the harp. I have played inside, outside, and practically up-side-down for whatever pleases the bride. I just Love wedding sooo much because they are such happy times and I truly believe I make them even more beautiful!
