Few people are blessed with a voice like LZ Love's and even fewer are as inspiring and exciting to watch on stage as this Chicago native. LZ Love defies genres. Whether she's singing R&B, gospel, funk, dance, or blues music, one thing is certain: everything LZ does is dripping with soul.
LZ began her career as a teen, singing backgrounds for legendary Sylvester in San Francisco. As a background singer she toured, recorded and opened up for artists such as The Alabama Shakes, James Brown, Damian Marley, Michael Franti and Spearhead, George Benson, Natalie Cole, Luther Vandross, Clarence Clemmons, Mary Wells, and Walter and Edwin Hawkins…just to name a few. Although Parliament/ Funkadelic asked her to join their band, LZ was faced with a critical personal choice at that time. She decided that taking care of her mother, Florida, was most important.
The time she spent putting her career aside to take care of Florida until she passed, enriched and deepened her resolve to commit her life to sending her music out into the world. Remembering the words her mother used to tell her, “don't give up cuz one day your gonna do great things,” inspired her to get back out there. And so she did.
Immediately LZ Was approached by longtime friend and producer "Big Ed" Moore, to collaborate on a dance song with him, titled "Lift Me Up", on Freshly Squeezed records/ Strictly Rhythm records..Which was her first top chart dance single that hit the dance charts, both domestically and internationally. Soon after, she moved to Europe and was signed to Slip n Slide records UK. She then recorded one of her biggest dance hits titled "See the light", Produced by Booker T. and remixed by the legendary Derrick Carter. It charted #2. She continued to record and work with many other dance producers. Trailing her success she recorded "It's Your Love", a garage soul classic Produced by Dave Camacho remix by Banana of Republican on Phuture Track Records UK. Also did a remake of Brian McKnight's "Anytime" Produced and remix by Grant Nelson on Swing City Records U.K. and charted #5. LZ toured all over Europe and the U.K. for a number of years, kicking' out the dance floor hits!
LZ then moved to Austin, Texas, and quickly made a name for herself there, becoming one of Austin's most respected soul singers. Among her most important personal accomplishments was establishing herself as an advocate for peace and acceptance, encouraging others by example, to above all else be true to themselves. LZ was selected for the front cover story of The Austin Chronicle and also received a proclamation of her own “LZ Love Day”, November 28th. She was honored by being asked to sing The National Anthem for The San Antonio Spurs playoff game.
Recently LZ has relocated to Los Angeles, CA. Landing firmly on her feet, she is already doing great things there, including acting on Amazon's new breakout TV series, "Transparent".
LZ Love's new single is *THIS IS THE NIGHT* Produced by Big Ed Moore on Mixfixer Music, and will be released this summer. It's a fierce track that captures those signature LZ Love vocal licks.
