I 'm GJ Katz Classic Rock Tribute OMB (One Man Band). It has only been in the last few years that new technology has made it possible for a solo musician to play live with a world-class backing band. Actually, a backing band that is controlled by me in real time! No prerecorded backing tracks are used at all! All of my arrangements are live and completely controlled by me, including two and three part harmonies! This gives me the ability to sound like the original artist and makes for an amazing and electrifying show that will be talked about long after the performance has ended! GJ Katz has been playing music since the age of 10. He purchased his first guitar after wining $9.80 from KFWB, a local rock n` roll radio station. Growing up to the sounds of The Beatles and the British Invasion, Gary soon started playing in “garage bands” while still in Junior High School. It was during this time that his band, The Days End, performed at the famous Hollywood Palladium for the 1966 Teen Age Fair. At the age of 17, GJ started writing and playing acoustic folk/rock, performing with bands like Waterfall and the comic satire group The BJ Band. As a music major in college, GJ also had the chance to perform with musicians trained in various styles of music. Dealing with other band members over the years proved to be trying at times and replacing them became a regular chore. So as technology improved and equipment got better, Katz started putting together his new band. But this band would never be late for rehearsal, never talk back and always play spot on! In fact, it has only been in the last few years that new technology has made it possible for a solo artist to perform live with a world class “band in a box.” All of Katz`s arrangements are played live and completely controlled by him in real time including two and three part harmony. There are no prerecorded backing tracks being used at all. GJ Katz is a Classic Rock/60`s Tribute OMB. Tribute because, with the help of technology, Katz has the ability to sound like many of the bands he emulates.
