The Sound Hounds Swing Band from Glen Ellyn, IL

Our 11-member swing band plays danceable big band hits and jazz standards from the 40s and 50s. Our library includes favorites like "In the Mood," "Satin Doll," "String of Pearls" and dozens of other hits that listeners and dancers love. With six horns and four rhythm instruments plus a vocalist we're large enough to sound like a big band but small enough to fit in smaller clubs and restricted performance spaces. Our female vocalist has a big voice and a personality to match. Audiences love her interpretation of favorites like "Summer Wind," "How High the Moon" and "I Left My Heart in San Francisco." Our audiences love how we introduce every tune with a brief factoid like how "Take the A Train" got its name and what happened when the BBC told Glenn Miller to play everything at the same volume. We offer themed programs including Roaring 20s and Big Band Era programs with vintage costumes and customized announcements from our broadcast-trained announcer. We keep the music coming with no interruptions to search for music or call the next tune. Our sets are pre-planned. Requests welcomed, of course! We love to play nightclubs, vintage wedding receptions, corporate events, fund raisers, anniversary and birthday parties.
