Description

Violinist, Emily Orenstein studied the Royal Academy of Music, with Diana Cummings, Joshua Fisher, and baroque violinist, Nicolette Moonen. A Baker Gifted Arts Scholar at Lehigh University, she served as concertmaster of the Lehigh Philharmonic Orchestra under the batons of guest conductor JoAnn Falletta, Steven Sametz, and Eugene Albulescu. Her principal teacher at Lehigh was Dr. Timothy Schwarz. She has also studied with Helen Martin, Kate Ransom, and Lee Snyder. Most recently, Emily has performed in both modern and period instrument ensembles under the direction of Sir Charles Mackerras, Pierre Laurent-Aimard, Pietari Inkinen, and Laurence Cummings. Her chamber music experiences have allowed her to work with Michael Dussek, Timothy Ying, Diane Monroe, Helen Kwalwasser, and Martin Outram. She has also played in masterclasses of artists such as David Kim, Mayumi Fujikawa, Alexander Pavlovic, and Rachel Podger. In 2007, as a winner of the Lehigh Philharmonic Orchestra's 10th Annual Concerto Competition, Emily performed Ravel's "Tzigane" under the baton of Jung-Ho Pak. In the summer of 2008, she was an active participant at the International Summer Academy Mozarteum in the class of Eduard Schmieder. Emily performs with the Monocacy Chamber Orchestra in Bethlehem, PA and studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
