DESCRIPTION:
New to Gigmasters, but not to the music world! Versatile as well as professional, Alyson Montez has been in love with the violin for the past 17 years. She offers her services for weddings, parties, performances, recording sessions and other events in classical (including opera and ballet), rock, mariachi, musical theater, but is open to every style and genre, and is always glad to try something new! Alyson is available on both acoustic violin and 6-string electric, with full gear and an acoustic pickup, to fulfill a variety of musical needs! She is also available with a mariachi group, upon request.She began in 1991 with the Suzuki method, and was soon participating in orchestras of all kinds, including the Houston Youth Symphony and Virtuosi of Houston. She was also heavily involved in chamber music, promoting her string trio for weddings and parties as well as taking part in chamber festivals around the US. After graduating high school, Alyson continued her education at the University of Houston, where she recorded on her first album for the premiere of an original work by composer Roger Nelson, then Cornish College for the Arts, a more contemporary school, and home of John Cage's prepared piano technique. In 2000, while studying fiddle, she met rock violinist Mark Wood, and soon began a new passion: rock music. Alyson has since then been playing rock, gypsy, classical, contemporary and mariachi on a regular basis in various venues along the West coast. She was most recently the lead violinist in the Mariachi Divas, for whom she recorded violin tracks on their new upcoming album, "Para Toda la Vida", and the Mark Wood Rock Orchestra, with acclaimed rock violinist Mark Wood. She is experienced in learning new styles quickly and efficiently, both by ear and sightreading, studio recording and onstage theatrics.
