Description
Swing Cafe is a high-class acoustic swing, jazz, and rockabilly band that plays around New England at parties, clubs and concerts. Combining lead and harmony vocals, archtop guitar, mandolin, double bass and drums, Swing Cafe blends well in all types of functions. The group appears frequently as a quintet with Billy Novick , one of the country's most esteemed horn players, who plays clarinet and saxes. Swing Cafe can also appear as a trio ( guitar. mandolin, bass, with lead and harmony vocals) or as a duo with guitar and mandolin, also including lead and harmony vocals.
Swing Cafe was described by one client as " a great wedding band that doesn't sound like a typical wedding band", and were called "The best band we've ever had here" by the management of the Putney Inn in Putney ,Vermont in August 2008. While Swing Cafe knows a wide variety of upbeat, danceable songs, the band's acoustic instrumentation keeps the volume at comfortable levels and enhances the fun and loose feel of the music .
Swing Cafe's presentation is both professional and relaxed. The band is fastidiously punctual, and always willing to accommodate a client's special requests, and travels with their own state-of-the-art sound system. At the same time, the band's smooth stage presence and often humorous audience repartee help break the ice and get people into the spirit of the show.
