DESCRIPTION:
Having played for her first wedding at the age of 13, Meg has been providing the music for that most special of all occasions for more than 40 years. Whether the request is for the gentle strains of the Celtic harp, classical music played on piano, flute or violin, or for music focused on a specific era or region, she is honored to accomodate the wedding party. She provides music for other special occasions: retirement receptions, anniversaries, memorial services, birthday parties, holidays, and more. Her motto is: "Music makes the world a better place!" She is eager to make certain that the music provided is appropriate for the occasion and the audience -- so one performance might feature soft background music, and the next, hot dance music. Performing either as a soloist or with ensembles and bands of many sizes, the instrumentation can be as varied as the occasion warrants.
From jazz to bluegrass to classical, folk, gospel, western swing, Latin, Dixieland to traditional folk tunes from around the world, she has what you need to fill your stage or venue with the desired ambiance. Meg's ability to either sight-read music or play along by ear and improvise at the drop of a hat is probably the reason she's a key member of several bands and combos around the country. Notably, she plays bass sax with the Calamity Jazz Band, a Dixieland jazz band (based in Eugene, Oregon), clarinet, baritone sax and flute with the Lincoln Pops Big Band (from Gleneden Beach, Oregon), flute with the Eugene Symphonic Band (of Eugene, Oregon), piano with the Black Derby Jazz band (based in San Antonio, Texas, accordion and a hodge-podge of instruments with "Anything Goes." Her group "The Sousaphonics" features 5 multi-instrumentalists, playing everything from Hungarian rhapsodies to rock 'n roll. She substitutes with another big band, with a bluegrass group, plays with the Oregon Old-Time Fiddlers, and performs at ragtime festivals. Please note that the song list provided below is only a very small sampling from her repertoire; intended to give a general idea of the variety offered.

CLIENT FEEDBACK:
The event was a House Blessing and 60th Birthday Party. We were delighted with the music Meg played accordian and flute, plus another musican accomplied her on banjo. The theme was Italian the music was perfect for the event. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It was a great party. She traveled to Tucson from Washington State. The guests were very impressed and also wanted to have her for their parties. We highly recommend Meg for your events.

She arrived and was set up ahead of the guests. She stayed until the last guest had departed. Her playing was lovely and included my requests. I am very pleased with my gigmaster experience.

Originally what I had in mind for the event was different than what happened. It was perfect. Meg adapted to what the congregation was doing and particularly the mood of the children. It was a special day and worth every penny. We will be having them again. My only regret was that we hadn't had them come sooner.

Meg arrived early..and spent a few minutes talking to my 95 year old mother... even took a photo as it was Mom's birthday. when the party started she played for 2 hours..she is so talented and friendly. all songs were wonderful..Her catalog of songs seemed endless...we had to switch to the piano due to accoustics in the room but it all worked out beautifully. I highly recommend Meg and wish she could play for me every week...what a wonderful talented musician and lovely person.
thanks Meg so very much. the entire family joins me in a round of applause for you . you made the party so very special

Meg and her friends, Fred and David, provided a terrific evening of entertainment for our Holiday Party in our home on December 2, 2006. I found Meg through Gigmasters and was confident in her from our first conversation. She assembled a trio perfect for our evening.
Meg handled all of the arrangements professionally; she phoned me several times, inquired about our wishes and, without any disruption of other party preparations, arrived in the mid-afternoon with Fred to set up on the balcony over the entry hall in our home. The three musicians were in place and ready to play well before the first guest arrived.
Meg, Fred and David played classical Christmas flute/harp etc., as the evening began. As the party dynamics grew, so did the music. Meg is great at selecting music appropriate for the mood of the event through the evening. The music remained fresh and fun even though the party began at 6:30 and they played until after midnight.
We also really appreciated the talent and versatality of each of the three musicians with regard to the variety of instruments and types of music they play. In addition, we appreciated their passion for music and entertaining. Meg and Fred traveled from Eugene, Oregon to our home in Bend, Oregon; David came from Tri-Cities, Washington, each at least a three hour drive. They seemed just as eager as we were to make our event memorable and fun for our guests.
Finally, Meg, Fred and David were delightful to have in our home. We look forward to having them return for another event.
If anyone has any questions I can help with, please feel free to call at 310-480-2889. Susan

I had Meg play for my guest before and while I was walking down the aisle. Unfortunately I didn't hear the before, but hear my guest were enjoying themselves very much. I caught a sound briefly as I passed on my way down the aisle, and it was lovely, after that I was a nervous bride in a totally zoned out place and could barely hear the I do's hahhahaa. My husband has informed me it was just lovely though.I did tell Meg I would be using her again for future events.
