NEW YORK PIANIST MATT RAY has performed more than 2000 engagements worldwide, and has over fifteen years of professional experience. He has entertained for major corporations, celebrities, small businesses, and private events, and has performed and/or recorded with jazz stars such as Anita O'Day, and Allan Harris. If you are searching for an entertainer with the perfect combination of taste, elegance, and soul, look no further. Matt's talents have been requested by dignitaries and heads of state all over the world, including right here at home, where he has played for President Bill Clinton, Vice-President Al Gore, and Secretary of State Madeline Albright. Matt's trio of piano, upright bass, and drums were selected as U.S. State Department Jazz Ambassadors in 1999, and toured the Caribbean and Central America for 5 weeks. In addition, Matt was honored in 1999 as a semi-finalist in the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition. His trio is currently busy touring behind Matt's second release for CAP Records, "Lost In New York". Recently, Matt was featured in an extended engagement at the NY Bar at the top of the Park Hyatt Hotel In Tokyo, Japan - the very same venue featured in the movie 'Lost In Translation.' With a musical approach that can range from elegant to dynamic, Matt Ray is a master at adapting to all situations.
