Description

A very energetic group backed by piano, bass, drums and sax. Much in the style of The Manhattan Transfer, the vocal material pays tribute to some of the most popular groups of the 40’s, like The Pied Pipers and The Modernaires, and the wonderful vocal groups from the 50’s like The Four Freshmen, Crew Cuts and Four Lads. Lambert, Hendricks & Ross are represented, as are the more current groups such as The Manhattan Transfer. All of the arrangements come from the pen of Bob Zaun, musical director. From lush ballads to swinging renditions of big band music...from good-time 50’s rock and roll and doo wop to lightning fast vocalese lyrics, the Jazz Spectrum Vocal Quartet lays down a dazzling performance of rich harmonies and tight ensemble work. In addition to their regular repertoire, the group performs a delightful Holiday Program enjoyed by all ages.

In 2001, they recorded their first CD, “The Song Is You.” Their much anticipated holiday CD, “It’s Christmas,” was released July 1, 2004. May, 2007 saw the release of their third CD, "Live In July." Anyone who likes to be entertained and enjoys exciting vocal harmonies and swinging instrumental jazz is sure to enjoy The Jazz Spectrum Vocal Quartet.

Feedback

  • Jazz Spectrum was perfect for our Christmas dance, weaving in songs from their Christmas CD with other songs on their song list. They sang/played our requests, even our last minute ones. This allowed for many different styles of dance so that there was no excuse not to get out on the dance floor. They were very accomodating & worked around us & made sure we & the dancers/audience were happy with their set-up, volume & performance. Their nice sense of humor made it pleasant to work with them. You can tell by their tight performance they must rehearse often. We would recommend them to anyone who wants to have fun. We look forward to getting them back here soon. -- Mike G, Lombard, IL, 12/12/2008
  • Jazz Spectrum performed for my great-grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary and they did an EXCELLENT job! They were very professional and accomodated our every need. They made the party very special. Many of the guests really enjoyed reminiscing to some of the songs they sang. It seemed like the dance floor was never empty! The band even played background music when we showed the wedding video from 1946. They really set the mood for the event and we are so thankful that we cannot say enough about them. -- Stefanie R, Greendale, WI, 9/9/2006
  • I had Jazz Spectrum perform for a romantic evening to ask my fiance to marry me and it was a wonderful experience. I was fortunate to sing with the group and I must say their professionalism and cooperation were well above expectations at both the rehearsal and performance. The evening would have been bland and uninspirational if it wasn't for Jazz Spectrum. They were the key element in making our "fairy tale" night magical. Thank you Jazz Spectrum Vocal Quartet. -- Charles G, Chicago, IL, 4/21/2007
