DESCRIPTION:
East Side Trio features Ralph Hopper on sax along with piano or guitar with bass. Ralph plays alto, soprano, tenor and baritone depending on the needs of a particular venue or event. For quiet background jazz, for example, the alto or tenor and soprano would likely be most appropriate. Tunes are taken from the standard jazz repertoire thus there will be many recognizeable and enjoyable melodies during a performance. We focus on mainstream jazz in a style somewhat from the 1950's and 1960's era of the jazz greats.The trio can perform quiet background instrumental jazz for a dinning/drinks/reception event or more lively/higher energy jazz for a concert type event. We can design the music to suit your requirements and our repertoire listing is available upon request. The trio can be expanded to both a quartet or quintet if required with the addition of drums and trumpet. The trio has performed for private events and at venues such as 'Eighteen' and 'Metropolitain' both excellent restaurants in the By Ward Market area in Ottawa. We performed at Eighteen every Thursday evening from September 2005 to May 2006. We played on the courtyard of Metropolitain three nights a week from June 2006 to September 2006. East Side Quartet performed at the Ottawa Jazz Festival on June 26, 2006 and again in 2007. More recently the trio has performed for functions on Parliament Hill and at the Canadian War Museum. Additional current and previous bookings along with a few sound clips can be viewed at my personal web site. Acoustic Flight dance band is a 10 piece band that plays everything from the jazz dance classics from the 1930's and 1940's to more current pop, rock and disco tunes - think Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Big Phat Band, Chicago, Bee Gees, James Brown and Bill Haley along with Basie and Miller! Our objective is to get people dancing and this high energy, swinging band would be great for corporate functions, wedding receptions and private parties when you want a variety of live music.
