DESCRIPTION:
Alex Levin is available as a solo pianist or with his elegantly swinging trio. One of the city's most exceptional pianists, Alex has played at hundreds of parties, including weddings and corporate functions, where he has delighted guests with renditions of popular standards by Gershwin, Porter, and Irving Berlin. His music is always an excellent choice at dinner parties and cocktail hours.He has performed at New York Jazz clubs such as Night and Day, Detour, Kavehaz, and Rue B in the East Village, as well as clubs throughout the United States and Europe. His music has been featured on Public Radio and All About Jazz, a popular jazz website. A sparkling, swinging band, his trio is available for bookings at clubs, private parties, corporate functions, weddings and receptions. He is also available as a solo pianist, and he has performed in this capacity at The University Club, The Harvard Club, The Williams Club, Columbia University, and in many hotels and private residences throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. His CDs are available at Kim's Music and Video, and at Itunes, Napster and other download sites. A graduate of Brown University and a current graduate student at Middlebury College's Breadloaf School of English, Alex is an avid fan of literature and teaches at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn, New York. Should you wish to book Alex or his trio but do not have a piano on-site, he can arrange to bring along an electric piano that sounds exactly like a real piano. The trio includes a bassist and a drummer, or a bassist and a guitarist. A vocalist is also available should you wish to have a Diana Krall/Nat King Cole sound. Of course you can choose to book a larger ensemble. No matter what decision you make, you can be certain that Alex and his band will be professional and that the music will be tailored to your party.

For a one-time gig at Kavehaz Restaurant & Jazz Gallery in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, Alex played piano accompiment for my jazz vocals. It was an excellent session in every way. Alex and I collaborated closely before and during the gig and brought off a professional sounding two sets. Alex knows the standards. His playing is styled for entertainment and all his solos were applauded. Working with Alex made me want to hire the full trio next time!
