Description

The Caribbean American International Steel Orchestra or "C.A.I.S.O." (pronounced ki-e-so) as it is more popularly known has been around the Washington Metropolitan area for the past 30 years. Its membership comprises a total of six talented musicians who had the privilege of performing professionally with some of the top steelbands in their native Trinidad and Tobago. Our specialties are performing for wedding cocktail parties and we provide great background music for private and corporate events. C.A.I.S.O. is celebrating 30 years of business. The original members of C.A.I.S.O. are David Zephrine, Michael George, Roger Greenidge, and Franklin Harding.

The band performs soloist gigs and groups of two, three, or four + players at any given corporate or private event. C.A.I.S.O. was praised for its performance of the U.S. National Anthem at the 1982 season opener of the then Washington Bullets Basketball franchise against the Philadelphia 76ers. The band was an opening act for the Beach Boys concert on August 27, 1995 in Harve de Grace, Maryland. Other notable performances include appearances on local TV stations, The Smithsonian Institute's Botanical Gardens, Nordstrom's Pentagon City Mall, and popular hotels as well as golf clubs throughout Washington, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

C.A.I.S.O. Steelband trio incorporates genres of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, and Latin Jazz. C.A.I.S.O. arranges melodies, harmonies, and rhythm into a smooth instrumental sound. We always entertain.

Feedback

  • Our staff and residents really enjoyed working with the group. We will have them back in the furture. Thanks-Renee Budd -- Renee B, Springfield, VA, 5/13/2009
  • overall the school loved their performance i wish they could have played outside during carpool but due to the coldness the steel drums do not sound as good --maybe a practice run at the school would have helped--something to keep in mind next time -- Tina P, Fairfax, VA, 3/6/2009
  • Wonderful experience, delightful music, great show. Arrived early to set up, started on time, very accomodative. Highly recommend to all. In fact, the Golf Club manager asked them to play in future awards events at his Club. -- Frederick B, Marriottsville, MD, 5/18/2009
