Cornelius “Preacher C” Shaw is a W. Michigan native spoken word artist who explores the idiosyncrasies of everyday life by way of pen and paper. As an openly gay, black, ordained minister—Preach delivers poems that capture his unique perspective as it relates to the world around him. A strong believer in supporting local arts, Preach has been the host of First-Friday open mic poetry at Fire for 3+ years (Kalamazoo, MI). In 2010, Preach was published in the All Poetry is Prayer anthology commissioned by Creative Justice Press ©. In March 2014, he released his highly anticipated spoken word album Life Don't Always Give You Lemons. In 2015, Preach released his second album Less Cranberry, More Vodka! As well as his first chapbook Laughing When We Should've Been Praying (Creative Justice Press ©). His fans created the hashtag #PreacherC and use it to live-tweet quotes during his performances.
