DESCRIPTION:
I work as a solo performer, singer/ songwriter at many different types of events and venues, from private functions to public festivals, weddings (funerals), tourism events and theatre. I have several years' experience as a producer of tourism events, mainly musical luncheon and dinner shows where I also performed the role of emcee, providing music and comedy between introducing acts. I have an extensive repertoire of music, with a particular love of the old standards from the 30's through 70's. I also enjoy singing Christian contemporary music (for which I have produced an independent album of original songs in 1997, receiving airplay throughout the english-speaking world). My second independent album is mainstream in nature yet covers many different genres of style to reflect the expression I desired for the most impact of the lyrics I've written. My website has many photos, film-clips and audio clips to help you with your decision-making! I also have a lovely wardrobe of stage clothes/ costumes that help make even the simplest of events become more 'upscale' and formalized, even should there be no formal stage or theatre lights available. I love to customize my sets to suit the individual client's wishes, so input regarding requests is always welcome. I completely respect and admire the role that producers/ event-planners take in making events special and will always be as flexible as possible with even the most last-minute changes that may come my way. I do not drink alcoholic beverages while on the job and do not include any type of vulgarity (in dress code or language) in my act. I believe in 'good, clean comedy' that never offends and only add comedy to my act if it is something the client would like to have added to my musical entertainment. Although I can accompany myself using either guitar or piano, I prefer to use personalized soundtracks that have been specially engineered for my vocal range as well as put together in 'show form' (that is, no large gaps of time between songs and no songs with 'upteen' verses as they are edited to be audience-friendly). This frees my hands up so that I can walk around the room with a cordless mic to really engage an audience; they seem to really enjoy this aspect of my shows!!! The full band/ orchestral sound of these tracks is both fun, very danceable and motivating (that is, they encourage people to want to sing along with me, which is always fine by me). I performed the role of Patsy Cline for a number of years at many venues, including at the Roselawn Centre For the Arts in Port Colborne, Ontario. I continue to include the music of Patsy Cline in many of the shows I perform. I also sing the hits from Connie Francis, Judy Garland, the Platters, 50's rock 'n roll favourites, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Patty Page, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Cloonie, broadway, movie themes, St. Patrick's Day, Robbie Burns (Scottish), Valentine's love theme shows and of course, special music for Christmas and New Year's events. I also have two patriotic songs that are now being performed at many types of events, including school remembrance/ memorial day and Canada Day; these songs have been approved to be promoted directly from the Royal Canadian Legion's official (Ottawa) website. I have many references of different types of events that I have performed at that I can make available to any interested potential client. I have earned a reputation for being a fun, energetic musician who can be relied upon to "show up early, perform 'beyond expectations' and leave late". For this reason I have always had new bookings stemming from each booking and have many 'repeat customers' in both private and corporate sectors. I simply love singing my heart out for people and helping them to have a wonderful, memorable event!
