DESCRIPTION:
Having had a life-changing encounter with the Lord through worship, Laura wants to bring the beauty of God’s love to a broken world, see people’s hearts set on fire through the touch and presence of God and to glorify Him in all things. With an engaging stage presence and angelic vocals, Laura’s music leaves a mark on the soul. Laura has been singing and writing since the age of 10, and this ability has given her the opportunity to share her heart, her thoughts, and her love for God and others. She was born outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. While in college, Laura sang with the critically acclaimed a cappella group, ‘Full Measure,’ and during this time, Laura witnessed the effectiveness of music in communicating God’s Word, challenging the intellect, breaking through stereotypes, and meeting people on common ground. This compelled Laura to seriously pursue writing and recording her own songs, and in March 2006, Laura released her first studio album, “Wake Me Up.” The songs on “Wake Me Up” cover a wide range of themes, from coming to terms with doubts, to rejoicing over the sacrifice of God’s love for us through Jesus Christ. “It is a journey, much like our walks with the Lord,” says Laura. “And each song on the album represents a part of my walk, and a special moment in time that ultimately brought me closer to Him.” After the album was completed, Laura moved to Nashville, TN, with the hopeful expectation that God would bring the right people her way to grow her ministry. After a few months there, Laura met John Carter Cash (son of Johnny and June), and had the opportunity to record her original songs at the famed Cash Cabin studio. This second project, “Wildflowers,” features some of her folk songs that she wrote since her move to Nashville, and again represents a gifted writing style that incorporated real life situations with an uplifting message. But through it all, Laura remained true to her vision for pursuing a concert ministry, where she could share her heart for deepening relationships with Christ. Laura knows that all she has accomplished, or experienced to date, has been in preparation for a lifetime of serving God through song. Whether leading worship for thousands, sharing her original music on an intimate stage, or studying to add philosophical, cultural and historical relevance to her lyrics – Laura is so excited to be able to share her music with you, and hopefully, a piece of her heart.
