About
OpenRoad earned Gigmasters' "Best of 2012 Award". We were nominated by KRON's Best of the Bay TV as one of 2009's "Best Bands in the Bay Area". OpenRoad plays high-energy, instantly recognizable music that will pull you onto the dance floor. The Band is "Open" to tailor music performance for each Client's guests or audience. From Motown to Modern, we're your "Road" to Classic Dance Hits!

- We tailor our song lists, balance dancing vs. listening music, DJ songs during our breaks or for special requests, if needed.

- We dress to suit your event; whether formal attire for weddings or even theme costumes, as needed.
- Male and female vocalists available for wedding ceremony performance.
OpenRoad plays everything from Classic Rock, 60's-90's, Motown/R&B, Standards, to Current Artist Hits from contemporary artists, e.g., Adele, Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, Train and more. For a dinner dance, wedding or special event we can play mellow music first and get your audience rocking later in the evening. Bring your dancing shoes!
The current instrumentation consists of two lead/rhythm guitarists, one that plays harmonica for blues and rock, one plays percussion, bassist, drummer, keyboardist that plays piano, organ, strings effects, acoustic guitar, trombone.
Our group showcases outstanding vocalists with a real flair for connecting with the audience. We feature up to five vocalists in our six piece group. We try to sound just like your favorite songs whether male or female lead vocals with harmony vocals.

On the day of my wedding, i was the typical frazzled bride but Open Road's professionalism kicked into gear, they flowed through the reception & got everyone on the dance floor by the end of the night!! Ed made sure that I was aware of any changes/delays in the schedule & took care of everything!! The lead vocalist flawlessly sang our first dance song that she had to learn from scratch and brought happy tears from everyone, including my husband and myself. We are so HAPPY that we booked Open Road! Their service, style and mannerism will make any bride & groom overjoyed and all the guests dancing!"

"Originally, we were unsure about having a band vs. having a D.J. because there were certain songs we really wanted that weren't on the song list of the band. After expressing my concerns to Ed Vargas, the band leader/contact, Ed agreed that the band would learn over 10 new songs, just for our wedding! (Most other bands we contacted were willing to learn two at the most.)
The band ended up being great and we're really glad we went with live music over a D.J. All of our friends and family raved about the band, saying their high energy kept the dance floor full throughout the night. As a result, the night flew by and everyone was disappointed when it was over. "

"We have booked with OpenRoad to play at our previous Crab Feeds which were held at the Church Hall accommodating 350 attendees. Our organization and attendees truly enjoy the performance that OpenRoad provides and this year was no exception. Though this year we changed venues to the Robert Livermore Community Center which provided a more favorable stage layout for the band as well as a better dance floor area. We received numerous comments on the success of our event and the band, the music they played were frequently mentioned as outstanding, great, and truly enjoyable.
