The Bagpipe Connection (division of DC Live Music) was formed in 2005 by piper Darrell Calvillo and drummer David Boyd and today inlcudes members and friends of the award winning James J. Coyne Memorial Pipe Band.

CELTIC BAND "SILENT PLANET" is a Celtic/Folk/World band based out of Southern California. The band originally formed in 1995, as an impromptu duo at a local coffeehouse, featuring only the guitar and violin. Since 2002, Silent Planet has evolved into a five member group blending the unique sounds of bagpipes, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, snare drum, violin and more. The success of Silent Planet has been steadily rising as they continue to break attendance records at many clubs and concert venues throughout the western region of the U.S.
Silent Planet's unique sound has drawn attention from fans both young and old. Their fans stem from not only local audiences but those abroad as well. Fans from as far as the Netherlands and even Ireland have become partial to Silent Planet's distinctive musical style.
ORGANIST/PIANIST NEIL STIPP works as a performing keyboardist for concerts,musicals,weddings, church services,memorial services, and other events. He also gives private instruction in piano and organ. Neil received a doctorate in organ performance in June 2003. He has graduated from UCLA (full scholarship), USC, and Biola University.
DARRELL A. CALVILLO, principal musician.
Darrell is a musician of many voices, specialiazing in Celtic violin, the Great Highland Bagpipes, Firseide Smallpipes, Celtic whistles, and saxophone. He currently is a sucessful grade I solo piping competitor, Pipe Sergeant of the grade 2 James J. Coyne Memorial Pipe Band, and a member of "Silent Planet". Darrell is also a student at Citrus College majoring in music education with a minor in music performance.
DAVID BOYD, Principal Drummer.
Dave started playing Celtic drums at the age of 14 has has played in the City of Glendale Pipe Band, 53rd St. Cabar Feidh, LAPD Pipe Band, and is a founding member of the James J. Coyne Memorial Pipe Band where acted as Drum Sergeant from 2004-2006. David and also plays with Celtic/Folk band Silent Planet.

Bagpiper Darrell was on time, in perfect uniform, and performed as promised. His performance (the traditional Amazing Grace) during our committal/ashes scattering ceremony, and then a more festive array of tunes during the afternoon of sailing that followed was a big hit with my guests and crew of the schooner I chartered.
