WEAVER OF DREAMS swings with the best of them at top venues from the Rainbow Room to the River Cafe. These veteran New York jazz musicians make every event a success: weddings, corporate events, parties. Each member of the group has been wowing clients for 25 years or more. Any size combo, from piano soloist to vocal quintet. Free 50-minute demo CD.

THE MUSIC. Weaver has a songbook of over 350 standard, jazz, and Latin tunes, selected pop music from the Beatles on up, and Jewish and Italian tunes. They add new numbers all the time on request. For wedding ceremonies, the band plays arrangements of classical works by Bach, Handel, and others. The Song List below is a sampling of standards. A free 50-minute demo CD with 14 complete selections is available on request.

WHERE WE PLAY. Weaver of Dreams' musicians have performed at many top venues, including the Blue Note, Birdland, River Cafe, Rainbow Room, Tavern on the Green, Copacabana, The Carlyle, Waldorf Astoria, Water Club, Rialto Room at Remi, Tribeca Grill, Guastavino's, Le Cirque, Le Perigord, Brooklyn and Bronx Botanical Gardens, South Street Seaport, Sheraton on the Hudson, Sky Club, Manhattan Penthouse, Metronome Club, Alger House, Brooklyn Marriott, Bryant Park Cafe, Carltun on the Park, Colonial Terrace, Atlantica and Festiva cruise ships, George Washington Manor, The Hallmark, Knickerbocker Club, Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, Spring Lake Inn, The Stanhope, Stone Rose, Studio 450, Woodbridge Hilton, and many more.

AMY LONDON, vocals, has recorded with such jazz greats as Barry Harris and Sir Roland Hanna. She has performed on Broadway and for film soundtracks. Don Nelsen in the New York Daily News said, 'This woman has a swinging sense of time wed to a mellow-edged voice É she should be heard.' She's appeared in New York at many prestigious jazz venues, including the Blue Note, Birdland, and Michael's Pub. Her wide repertoire includes jazz tunes, standards, show tunes, classic rock, wedding songs, and Jewish music. And she teaches singing to up-and-coming jazz stars at the New School.

DAN GREENBLATT, tenor/soprano sax, has performed and recorded with jazz stars such as Ernestine Anderson, Chuck Metcalf, and Jay Thomas. In the all-star Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra he played with guest artists Quincy Jones, Clark Terry, Arturo Sandoval, Frank Foster, and Jimmy Heath. Dan is administrative director of the New School's Jazz Program. His new book, 'The Blues Scales: Essential Tools For Jazz Improvisation,' has become the top seller for jazz book publisher Sher Music. Dan can be heard on CDs for the award-winning Bopware label with many jazz luminaries.

JERRY ENGELBACH, leader and piano/electric keyboard, was influenced by Bud Powell, Bill Evans, and Wynton Kelly. In the 1960s he played in the Catskills and jammed in New York with future legends such as Pharoah Sanders. In 1975 he co-founded the award-winning Soho Repertory Theatre, whose many famous alumni include Kevin Spacey, Kathleen Turner, and Ed O'Neill. Jerry was pianist for the Rifftide Jazz Trio for several years before starting Weaver of Dreams in 2003. His numerous New York jazz venues include long-term gigs at Nascimento, Oro Blue, and Caravan of Dreams.

ED FUQUA, upright bass, cut classes at Boston's Berklee College of Music to jam with the pros. He studied with Elvin Jones, Charlie Haden, and the legendary Joe Solomon. Ed (his last name is pronounced 'fyoo-kway') has performed with such leading jazz artists as Clifford Jordan, Dakota Staton, and Patience Higgins. His many venues include the Village Gate, Birdland, Knitting Factory, Copelands, and Angry Squire, and jazz festivals in the U.S. and Canada. He has recorded CDs with the Jon Raney Trio and other groups.

STEVE JACKSON, drums. A native New Yorker, Steve has been a professional musician since 1970 in jazz, rock, and resort show bands. He's worked with musical stars such as Dave Liebman, Steve Grossman, and Joanne Brackeen. From 1974 to 1980 he lived in Japan, where he played with top Japanese jazz musicians for clubs, concerts, recordings, tours, and radio. More recently, he has performed with Bobby Porcelli, of the Lincoln Center Latin-Jazz Orchestra; Chris Karlic; and Edsel Gomez, who plays with David Sanchez and Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Feedback

  • Overall, I was delighted with Weaver of Dreams. Jerry Engelbach, the leader, was very accommodating on times, and special arrangements, allowing my wife, whose birthday was the reason for the event, to achieve a life-long ambition of singing with a band. The guys/gal were very supportive of her. Jerry also came out specially to Pelham to rehearse (once) with her. The band performed excellently - sax player (Patience) and singer (Amy) stood out. Really interesting arrangements. Would recommend them to others. -- Tony H, Pelham Manor, NY, 7/3/2007
  • The Weaver of Dreams band and singer were perfect for our daughter's wedding. They played a combination of jazz, updated classical music and special requests. Amy London has a beautiful voice and the band playing instrumental or accompanying her was great. We gave them 5's across the board. Please update our customer satisfaction survey. Thank you. -- Marcia F, Chappaqua, NY, 10/21/2006
  • Mr. Englebach was so friendly and accommodating! They were perfect for our party and performed fabulously! -- Renato R, Port Washington, NY, 7/23/2006
