EMILY PERL KINGSLEY - Emmy Award winning writer - Motivational Speaker Emily Perl Kingsley garnered 23 Emmy Awards over her 45-year career as a writer for SESAME STREET (among many other awards). She has wonderful stories to tell about the long and colorful history of America's most popular and influential children's TV show. Emily's son Jason was born with Down syndrome in 1974. Her experiences raising Jason inspired her to include people with disabilities into the Sesame Street cast, and started a long and dedicated career of advocacy for people with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities. These efforts have included writing a CBS-TV Movie-of-the-Week which starred Tyne Daly and Richard Crenna as well as an inspirational essay called "Welcome to Holland” which has been published and distributed all over the world - and much much more. Emily's presentations about her exciting life story, long and rewarding career and advocacy adventures can be illustrated with delightful muppet and celebrity video clips from Sesame Street.

Emily was very patient during the entire process of securing her as a speaker. Our organization is a collaborative, and we have a lot of hoops speakers have to jump through during the process, and she was a trooper. The only reason I did not give 5 stars across the board was that she had recent back surgery that I felt crimped her ability to be as dynamic a presenter as we have had in the past. But all the feedback was great from the participants, and if you have a group with a similar need, to be uplifted and more understanding, you will not be disappointed.
