Mariachi Plata De Las Vegas Mariachi Band from Las Vegas, NV

Mariachi Plata de Las Vegas was founded in the fall of 2002 by the inaugural group of mariachi music educators with the Clark County School District; and led by their founding director, J. Javier Trujillo. Comprised entirely of school district educators, Mariachi Plata de Las Vegas has grown from the original five members in 2002 to the current ensemble of thirteen. Collectively, they boast over one hundred years of combined mariachi and musical experience. Named for the official metal of the state of Nevada (silver), Mariachi Plata de Las Vegas has quickly gained a reputation of musical and educational excellence for their stage performances and work with mariachi students from across the nation. As full-time teaching professionals and school district administrators, Mariachi Plata de Las Vegas is motivated by pride and a dedication to sharing the musical heritage of Mexico with students of all races, colors and creeds. Indeed, their extensive practice and performance schedule demands most of their free time. Yet, they have been instrumental in leading the mariachi education movement nationally through their work with mariachi pedagogy and curriculum through the Music Educators National Conference (MENC); and as clinicians at mariachi conference workshops across the nation. Mariachi Plata de Las Vegas has performed throughout the State of Nevada and various states in the United States of America as ambassadors of good will, and are a symbol of pride within their own community, the Clark County School District. They have been featured presenters with the American String Teachers Association's National Conference. Additionally, they have served as musical emissaries for the State of Nevada at the behest of Governor Kenny Guinn and U.S. Senator Harry Reid. They have been featured presenters at the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) conference in Atlanta, Georgia and to the MENC conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mariachi Plata de Las Vegas is proud to be the host mariachi of the Annual CCSD MariachiFest Concert and Mariachi Workshops. As Las Vegas' most popular professional mariachi, they are quickly gaining a reputation for excellence. Through their music and example, they are continuously promoting a manifest pride in their cultural background and are excellent examples and role models for our youth.
