Paul Anastasio & Fire of Tierra Caliente Mariachi Band from Seattle, WA

My name is Paul Anastasio. My band, Fire of Tierra Caliente, is an extremely versatile group. We specialize in the southwestern Mexican music of Tierra Caliente del Balsas. This music includes 6/8 dance pieces, boleros, marches, waltzes, tangos danzones, foxtrots, pasodobles and other styles. Many of these styles are also played by Mariachi bands. We play quite a number of Mariachi pieces as well, and have listed ourselves as a Mariachi band because this description comes closest to describing what we play. However, our focus is on the regional Mexican music we learned from several old maestros from Guerrero and Michoacán states. I can play solo, or accompanied by two to six fellow musicians. We pride ourselves on being true to the styles and high standards of the musicians of Tierra Caliente. Accompanying me on violins, guitars, bajo sexto (a Mexican 12-string guitar variant) and vocals. We can play well-known favorites such as La Cucaracha, Cielito Lindo, Over the Waves and Besame Mucho, but we also play many beautiful pieces we have learned in our Mexican studies. This music may be seen and heard on three YouTube channels featuring myself and my Mexican violin teachers. The channels are Paul Anastasio, Juan Reynoso and Juan Reynoso Live. All of the musicians in my group are absolutely top-flight, and we pride ourselves on playing to the very best of our abilities at all times.
