DESCRIPTION:
Matthew David Stanley is one of entertainment's brightest rising stars. At an age when most people are hesitant about their future, Matthew has already established himself as an international award winning and headlining comedy magician and illusionist. Matthew started performing magic at the age of six when his parents gave him a magic set for his birthday. I guess that you could say that this is when he was bitten by the magic bug.Matthew continued doing magic all the way through school and worked very hard on a competition piece using exotic birds. Matthew began competing at regional magic competitions in the Midwest and won many awards. When he was seventeen, Matthew submitted a video tape to the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is an invitation only magic competition that only accepts the best of the best in the field of magic. That year, they received seventy four video tapes and out of those selected twelve finalists to come out and compete live on a Las Vegas Stage. Matthew was one of those finalist and ended up winning first prize in that competition, making him the "2003 Lance Burton, Siegfried and Roy Award" winner. Later that year Matthew traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to compete in the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) stage contest. The IBM is the world's largest fraternal magic organization. Matthew competed in that competition and won first place. Soon after that the calls started rolling in and that seven minute act took Matthew all across the country. Matthew is very proud of that act and of his accomplishments, but it was becoming more and more difficult to travel with animals on planes. In late 2004 Matthew hung up his competition act and began perusing his true passion of Stand-up Comedy Magic and Illusions. Matthew says "I really enjoy performing comedy magic and illusions. I feel a closer connection with the audience and seeing them laugh and smile to me is priceless." Matthew claims to be an Entertainer first and a Magician second. "Sure my stand-up comedy shows have a ton of magic, but they are more about entertaining you than fooling you. Don't get me wrong, I will fool you, but hopefully I can make you laugh along the way." Matthew also performs Grand Illusions and in the fall of 2006 successfully completed a five week run in the Paramount Theatre at Kings Island Amusement Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. The show featured Grand Illusions, female dancers and special effects. Matthew is a fulltime professional and currently performs around 300 shows annually worldwide for corporate events and trade shows, hospitality suites, vacation resorts, comedy clubs, private events, cruise ships as well as theatres and showrooms. We had Matthew David Stanley, Comedy Magician perform after dinner entertainment at our company’s sales meeting and he did a fantastic job. He was very professional and easy to work with. Matthew’s performance was very funny and entertaining; we especially liked how he incorporated music into his performance and used audience volunteers.
