The Honeybirds

DESCRIPTION:
Based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of central Virginia, the Honeybirds play swingin’ classic American music that spans decades and genres. "They set the perfect mood for our wedding rehearsal dinner in the Virginia mountains. The little ones, the thirtysomethings, and the old-timers alike all had a great time. I honestly could not have asked or hoped for a better evening," said groom Skip Maier, groom of Bluemont, Virginia. All music for weddings, from the bride’s processional to the couples' first dance, can be provided by this seasoned group. For the ceremony, an acoustic trio (fiddle, mandolin, and guitar) can play charming traditional Appalachian melodies or more formal choices such as Pachelbel's "Canon in D" or Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." Jan Smith, lead vocalist, is also experienced in singing for ceremonies. With the addition of drums, bass, and an electric hollow-bodied guitar, the Honeybirds pick up the volume and the tempo for receptions, parties, and other events. The music can conjure up a Cajun bayou with Hank Williams' "Jambalaya," a glittering 1950s dance hall with Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" and a country hoedown with fiddle tunes such as the "Orange Blossom Special."
