DESCRIPTION:
'Surf Command' is an instrumental guitar trio performing the surf and guitar hits of the 60's, 'Dick Dale', 'the Ventures' etc., contemporary masters of the genre such as 'Los Straitjackets', and some period R+B and blues hits for good measure. We also appear as the somewhat more refined and elegant act 'Surf 'n Turf', blending the surf and novelty material with some of the light tropical jazz hits of the era such as 'Girl From Ipanema' and 60's 'cool jazz' such as Miles Davis 'All Blue'. We are three 40 year veteran Chicago performers. Bruce Illig , guitar, is a founding member of Chicago R+B favorites 'Betsy and the Boneshakers'. Surf Command has been on hiatus since moving to Richmond Illinois to build a state of the art recording studio in a rural setting. We are now performing again with a new rythym section of top players. In addition to excellent veteran musicianship, the trio presents an astounding array of top vintage period instruments: guitars , amps , and effects, to amaze the eye as well as the ear.
