Bolero y Más is superb and classy Latin band that is exceptionally good in its kind in the world of playing salsa, son, cha-cha-cha, bolero and Latin jazz. Says Legendary Bay Area DJ Chuy Varela of KCSM, “Bolero y Más has garnered a fine reputation performing in local festivals and clubs…[Raquel’s] style is sultry, with a comfortable and elastic range that allows her to softly express boleros or drive Cuban/salsa classics…Raquel is a singer who has finally arrived…… this pint-of-dynamite will demonstrate she has it going on!” (Latin Beat magazine, December/January 2007, cd review of Soy Filipina)This band is lead by Raquel Berlind, a two-time award winning singer-songwriter. Her band plays Latin music for dancing and/or for background music. The group can consist of four to six people depending on the client's budget. The band can also provide instrumental duo (Latin and flamenco style) or a Jazz trio. Raquel con Bolero y Mas plays at weddings, private and corporate parties, clubs and restaurants, festivals, and casinos. They also played aboard Princess Cruise ships in the Caribbean islands and Mexico. Here's the review of Raquel and the band from San Francisco Magazine: "If there is such a person in existence who is a Filipina, Spanish-singing, Bay Area-based comparison to Sade, she can be found in a band called Bolero y Más. Possesing smooth sultry vocals with a lightly husky quality, their lead singer, Raquel Berlind, fronts this sensual rhythmic Cuban band. Lovers of good Latin music will appreciate the many styles this aptly named band plays. They are all over the map with music of Cuba, Puerto Rico and New York City, and it works for them beautifully. Of note are romantic Boleros like Lagrimas Negras (Black Tears), songs like "Son de la Loma" and Guarachas like "Pare Cochero" and of course, Salsa, Mambo, and Latin Jazz. They cover songs by Latin performers such as Beny Moré, Miguel Matamoros, Arsenio Rodriguez and La Lupe.
