DESCRIPTION:
Compelled began as a youth praise band, put together by the youth leader and front man Matt Russell. It was primarily for Wednesday night youth group meetings at their church New Life Fellowship, in Glassboro, NJ. After seeing how God used them during a teen service, the band was asked to start playing Sunday morning worship once a month. From there, they were invited to numerous churches, youth events, and retreats to play concerts and lead worship. Eventually, they picked the name Compelled for their group. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 is the theme verse, which begins with, "It is Christ's love that compels us…" This verse was picked because each member shares this common belief for their ministry through music; to give of themselves, for the sake of Christ, so that youth and other believers will know the truth of Christ's sacrificial love in their lives. Their vision for the ministry is to encourage people to interact in their relationship with Christ and allow them to come to know him better through music and worship.
