DESCRIPTION:
The Breeze Kings are on top of the Atlanta blues scene because they have “it”. Call it talent, dedication, charisma, on-stage chemistry … whatever it is, it has made them one of Atlanta's most popular and sought after bands. The Breeze Kings formed in 1997 when a local club needed a weeknight house band. Four up-and-coming players who barely knew each other came together with a mutual love for 50’s era Chicago blues. The spark was there and word spread fast. Today, the band performs over 200 shows per year all over the eastern USA, and in 2007 completed their third muti-date tour of France. Featuring complex guitar parts, explosive harmonica, and rock steady rhythms, their exciting and authentic blend of Chicago, Delta, and other regional blues styles has caught the attention of people everywhere. Their energy has won over new fans while their unwavering dedication to time honored traditions has earned the respect and admiration of blues purists. They have opened for, and played with, some of the biggest names in blues, performed live on Atlanta television and radio, and their music is regularly played on many local, regional, national and international blues radio and internet programs. It’s no wonder the Breeze Kings have won Creative Loafing’s Best Blues Band in Atlanta award eight years (1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) and were among the top 10 finalists at the 2005 IBC competition in Memphis TN. Multiple video performances can be found by searching for Breeze Kings on YouTube The Breeze Kings have released two CD's on Atlanta's Veritone Records label. Their 1999 debut CD “Tying One On … for the People” showcases the band’s talent, influences, as well as their passion and commitment to the sound and form of the classic Chicago blues labels from the 50’s and early 60’s. Their second CD "You Got To Bring Some To Get Some", released in 2003, has pushed the band’s success and reputation to new levels. While staying true to their blues roots, the new CD features 9 original tunes, special guests, and highlights the band’s songwriting talents and musicianship. Critics and audiences have received both CD's very well with glowing reviews and radio play lists coming in from all over the world. Two audio clips are available here. Many more are available on iTunes. In addition to the numerous club performances, the Breeze Kings have become one of the south’s most in demand bands for private occasions. The band’s distinct sound and absolute professionalism are exactly what clients want for a unique and memorable party, wedding reception, or corporate event. The Breeze Kings are also long time members of the Atlanta Blues Society. Bandleader Carlos Capote is the musical director of the “Blues In The Schools” program, which educates today’s youth about the music, culture, and traditions of the blues. The Breeze Kings are not like every other blues band and they are getting noticed everywhere they go.
