DESCRIPTION:
The ever-evolving sound of Richmond, Virginia-based 8-piece salsa powerhouse Bio Ritmo is proudly rooted in the great Afro-Cuban & Puerto Rican salsa traditions. It is their vision for bringing salsa "into the now" through skillful layering of jazz, urban, electronic and global sonic influences while maintaining the integrity of their foundation; and unusually profound and introspective lyrics; which have allowed the band to create a body of music and range of audiences that may very well be as diverse as those of any salsa band on the planet.Since its origin as a percussion ensemble in 1991, Bio Ritmo has released four critically-acclaimed full-length albums: Bio Ritmo (2004); Rumba, Baby Rumba (Mercury, 1998), Salsa Galactica (1997) and Que Siga La Musica (1996). Their next album is slated for release in early 2008
