Mario Perez

I have been performing since I was 12 years old. In high school I played with a Rondalla (a folk group) and with Mariachi Popular in Laredo Texas. Later I studied operatic singing at the University of North Texas in Denton,TX. where I got my bachelors. Shortly after, I attended the Royal Conservatory in Madrid, Spain as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship recipient. I am a classically trained singer with a variety of stylistic interests. I believe if there is something worth saying, it is worth saying it the most beautiful way possible, be it through opera, pop, jazz, or any other genre. My personal preferences as a performer are opera, international music(oldies)e.g. Italian Neopalitan Songs or Tangos, standards, sacred music, and some musical and pop. Let us work together to customize your event. I can accompany myself on the spanish classical guitar, provide an accompanist (piano,organ), or provide additional instrumentation or singers as needed. Let's talk. My most recent engagements are: with the Dallas Opera, frequent weddings aroung the Dallas-Fort Worth area, private parties, and a regular gig at the Cosmic Cafe in Dallas. I also form part of Trio Laredo, which specializes in Latin music.

• Mario performed at a birthday party for my wife and 50 friends. He started during the cocktail hour, played through dinner, and wound up with a birthday song before cutting the cake. • I hardly know how to begin. First let me say that Mario has a wonderful voice and his guitar playing was exquisite. He did a rendition of Van Morrison’s “Someone Like You” as my daughter walked down the aisle, everyone was enchanted. Mario was extremely professional and prompt, he even came to the rehearsal although that was not part of the original request.
