DESCRIPTION:
TMQ, a traditional jazz quartet focusing on the great jazz standards from the American Song Book, Be-Bop Standards, and some mo-town tunes re-arranged for jazz just to spice it up a little. The quartet features Todd Murphy, upright bass; Jeff Brown on tenor sax; Steve Minzer, piano; and, Jim Jacobus on drums. This is a tight little group that will leave you humming a favorite tune on your drive home.TMQ can also expand to become the Todd Murphy Jazz Quintet which adds trumpet to TMQ. This group plays music in the style of the great Miles Davis Quintet of the early '60's. The Quintet, in addition to the great jazz standards from the American Song Book, plays the be-bop standards of the late '50's and early '60's by greats such as Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Sonny Rollins, and many others. A singer can be added to either group when necessary.
