DESCRIPTION:
Myra Murphy is a New York native with a Masters from Juilliard
School of Music. As both Jazz Pianist and Jazz Vocalist has performed and recorded withmany greats in NYC and has been seen and heard with her group in New York at large events at Lincoln Center Jazz for the New York Philharmonic Fundraiser and other prestigious events in Philharmonic Hall. She has appeared with Jazz greats like Bill Evans, Saxophone, Adam Nussbaum, Drums, Mark Johnson, Bass and Jeff Williams, Drums.
In addition, she has appeared at the Parker-Meridien Hotel, events at La Grenouille, concerts at the IBM Center for Arts and Sciences.
Her Jazz Vocals have graced the University halls of Rowan University
where she was the Vocal Jazz Instructor for four years, and Drexel
University. She has been the recipient of a National Endowment of the
Arts grant for multi-media concerts. At present, she is the
Jazz Pianist/Vocalist of her Duo with Acoustic Bass and her Trio with
Jazz Guitar or Drums. The Trio can be all instrumental or with added Jazz Vocals. All great standards of Gershwin, Porter and Kern are played along with Bossa Novas and works of Ellington and other greats.
