Two Guitars

Two Guitars is a collaborative effort of guitarists Joseph Summers and Alex Belhaj. We are dedicated to providing music of high melodic quality and positive, energetic rhythms. We draw deeply from the European Swing music of the legendary Django Reinhardt, but our repertoire also includes Latin, Samba, Tango, and Salsa sounds, as well as typical jazz standards.

We are best suited to intimate gatherings, ceremonies, and private parties, where those who wish to listen can easily do so, yet others, wishing to converse and socialize, can do so without having to shout at the person standing next to them. We feel that all too often, musicians do not understand how to keep the volume level of their music under control. We are the exception to this rule!

When situations require more volume, such as certain outdoor venues, we are able to amplify to accommodate the needs of the event. In addition, we are able to add other instruments to the duo format, such as violin, or double bass.

Two guitars offer a most unique sound and variety of music. Mr. Summers, in addition to his outstanding work on the guitar, also plays the mandolin on certain selections. He is well versed in numerous styles of music, and has had articles in such print venues as Jazz Guitar, Hour Magazine, and was featured on the cover of Ann Arbor's Spotlight Edition weekly magazine in February of 2006. Alex Belhaj, a highly gifted composer, pianist, and rhythm guitarist, enhances every song with his high level of musicality.
