1ST PLACE WINNER OF THE 2007 INLAND EMPIRE JAZZ FESTIVAL MUSIC COMPETITION and 1ST PLACE CHAMPS OF THE ROTARY INTERNATIONAL 2006 QUARTERS FOR KENYA CHARITY MUSIC COMP. The Redlands Zanja 8 is comprised of some the most accomplished young jazz musicians in Southern California! The 'Zanja's' specialize in: Straight Ahead Jazz, Bebop, Swing, Standards and Funk. These performers may look young, but they play like the pro's they are! These musicians were hand picked by Music Specialist/Instrumental Music Director Tina Caldwell, and represent the best that jazz music has to offer today. The Zanja 8 have been thrilling audiences throughout the southland and are a hit wherever they perform! The 'Zanja's' are: talented, professional, good looking, and a wonderful group of rising stars. They are also diverse, personable, and most of all- entertaining! The Redlands Zanja 8 are truly amazing performers, and once they start playing.....they hold the audience in the palm of their hands! (They can also play soft and sweet background jazz, if that's what's requested.) These young musicians really are amazing! They played a wonderful mix of swing, bebop, funk and jazz standards that really pleased everyone (of all ages), at our party. They were so talented and professional, they really made our party an event no one will ever forget. I would highly recommend the Zanja 8 to anybody looking to hire a live band.

The performance was attended by 160 students from both the first and second grades. It was totally appropriate and meaningful for these age groups. As the Zanja 8 performed, the director of the band explained the instruments as well as what type of music was being played and the era it was from. This will help the students to better understand future lessons that deal with music, orchestras, sound, and rhythm. We would definitely ask this group to play again for our school. Everyone including the teachers enjoyed the whole performance tremendously!
