When you invite the group to provide music for your event or special day you can expect to experience fun swing, serene bossa nova's, relaxed funk and gentle ballads. The bands goal is to entertain and provide a classy atmosphere by providing background music, and as such, the music remains subtle and does not over power your event. The group can be included periodically throughout your entire event or can simply provide music for part of it (dinner music for example). The group can be purely instrumental or can include vocals as well. The group can perform in many different configurations depending on your preferences and your booking can be customized in many ways so as to fit your specific needs. In order that we can meet the needs of your personal event, the number of musicians, musical instruments, dress code and the entire schedule the group will follow is customizable. We work with you in a very responsive and efficient manner to get everything organized the way you need it (ahead of time) with minimal work required on your end. We provide and set up all of the musical equipment necessary. Professional musician Mike McNeil is joined by other professional musicians from the Ottawa/Gatineau area to form this ensemble. The group is dedicated to client service and is available to perform in the Ottawa/Gatineau region and many other areas of Ontario and Quebec. Mike works only with reliable professional musicians. Mike McNeil, has a bachelor's degree in music, has worked as a cruise ship show band musician and has toured Canada and The U.S.A. as a professional musician. As a freelance musician based in Ottawa, Mike has performed at hundreds of public and private events over the last 5 years with many bands in and around the Ottawa/Gatineau region as well as other areas of Ontario and Quebec. Recent highlights specifically for "capitalJAZZ" (formerly named "The Mike McNeil Group") include performing for wedding cocktail hours at The Chateau Laurier, The Museum of Nature and The Ron Kolbus Lake Side Center, performing for a corporate event at the newly redesigned Ottawa Convention Center (formerly named "The Ottawa Congress Center") as well as repeat requests to perform at The Sunlife Financial Center (water fall lobby), Luneta Bistro and The Mill Street Brew Pub. Other highlights include providing music for a fantastic outdoor summer wedding in Perth, Ontario in 2012. During the booking process you will be provided with answers to questions you may have, will have the opportunity to provide me with all the info you need us to have and will be given any info you may require so that you feel satisfied that you have booked the right music for your event and that the musicians have the information they need in order to use their own initiative to fulfill the engagement based on your specifications. Before your booking is confirmed you will be able to choose the number of musicians and the specific instruments the band will play (or we can take care of arranging an appropriate group for you based on details you can provide relating to your event and what you hope to achieve with the music). The time the musicians set up, pack up, the music schedule and the dress code the musicians will follow can all be customized to suit your personal event. During your event the band can also easily and efficiently re arrange their playing schedule to accommodate impromptu speeches and other activities that may come up which we know are important to you and the success of your event. Instruments available to choose from include piano, saxophone, jazz drums, dedicated vocalist, bass, jazz guitar, trumpet, Latin percussion, trombone, flute, clarinet and many more. We provide and set up all of the musical equipment necessary. All of the musicians that work in "capitalJAZZ" are accountable to the The American Federation of Musicians (AFM Local 180). The group is suitable for background music (situations where people are talking, eating etc..). Please note that the group is not currently bilingual.
