Jazzy Blu
“A Band for all Occasions”
Jazzy Blu is a band based out of Washington D.C. with a jazzy soulful sound enriched by the traditional jazz tones of years past. The band was started in 2005 by drummer, Dominic “Nikk” Taylor and keyboardist Mark “Mustang” Matthews. Jazzy Blu consist of bassist, John Kirksey, jazz guitarist Leslie Lee, vocalist Jackie “Ms. Jackie B” Brown and percussionist Mike Artis to complete Jazzy Blu. Each of the musicians bring an extremely diverse background, from Jazz, Funk, Rock, Gospel, and Blues to R& B and beyond. It is that diversity that gives Jazzy Blu its slightly different flavor, one you can’t quite put your finger on. Jazzy Blu released its debut CD self titled Jazzy Blu, show casing the innovative sounds of true jazz diversity. The band recently opened on the Gulf coast at BayFest for Boyz to Men and Brian McKnight! Jazzy Blu has a repertoire that is extremely diverse, playing traditional jazz as well as jazzy R&B. No matter who you are, where you come from or what your request is……Jazzy Blu has something special in store for you!

From the initial booking of Jazzy Blu to the actual event, I was impressed with their professionalism. At the event, they were prompt, friendly and very accommodating to me and my guests. Everyone at the party enjoyed their music and it certainly created the perfect atmosphere we wanted for our party. It was a delight to work with Jazzy Blu; they are a very talented group and I would highly recommend them. I intend to book them again in the near future!

We could not have had a better band at our party. They came early to set up and practice. They provided recorded music during their 15 minute break. They are extremely professional and talented. Everyone at our party wanted to know "where did we find such a great band". They played our requests. Jazzy Blu definitely was a major factor to the overall success of our party. I would recommend this band to everyone and anyone. I am a number one fan of Jazzy Blu. I want to have another party just so I can hire them again !!!
