Description

Cristian Perez is a guitarist born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently working on his Masters degree at GMU. Since he moved to the United States in 2002, he has obtained a Bachelor's degree in music from George Mason University with concentrations in both Classical Guitar Performance and Jazz Studies. Having had the privilege of being mentored by respected musicians of diverse styles such as Berta Rojas, Rick Whitehead, Larry Snitzler, Mark Brandt, Jim Carroll, Ken Hall, and Steve Herberman, he is a very versatile musician.

During his one year of study at the Levine School of Music, in which he studied with Berta Rojas, he acquired two distinction diplomas. He was a winner of the GMU Honors Recital in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and the Outstanding Service Award in the College of Visual and Performing Arts upon graduation. He has performed in various classical guitar master classes with Roland Dyens, Margarita Escarpa, Eleftheria Kotzia, Carlos Perez, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima, and has been performing in the GMU Jazz Ensemble, with which he traveled to Shanghai and Beijing (China), He has played at the Museum of the American Indian, the National Gallery of Art, and for the Argentine Festival 2011, and the Shanghai Concert Hall.

Cristian is currently active in the Metropolitan area in many different settings: as a solo guitarist, and ensembles such as: guitar duos, 2 guitars-bass, guitar-bass-drums, guitar-drums, guitar-bass, guitar-trombone, guitar-sax, guitar-steel pan, guitar-voice, etc., etc., etc....

Ideal for weddings, restaurants, reception, cocktail hours, wineries, etc. Very flexible and musically sensitive.
