Iva Jean Ambush is the latest winner of the prestigious Billie Holiday Competition! One critic described her as "a spell-binding professional, who rivets attention with her magnificent, clear and articulate voice." Iva Jean Ambush is a wonderful interpreter of the Great American Song Book. She founded Ambuscade, which is a group of teachers and educators who enjoy the balance of performing and a family life. They have performed at Birdland, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage, Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, International Association of Jazz Educators Conference, DC Jazz Festival, In The Streets Festival, East River Jazz Series, Be Mo Jazz Series, Frederick's 4th of July Celebration (3 years), East Coast Jazz Festival, Humanities Art and Technology (HAT) Festival, and more. Ms. Ambush and Ambuscade have covered complete weddings including the Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Dinner, and Dancing portion and she has been the Mistress of Ceremony (MC) for religious ceremonies, weddings, fashion shows, etc. This is a testament to her leadership and versatility. They can perform anything from "Crazy" by Willie Nelson, "Come Sunday" by Duke Ellington, to "At Last" by Etta James/Beyonce and everything in between including original music! The Band's size and instrumentation can be modified to fit your entertainment needs, making Iva Jean Ambush and Ambuscade the ideal band for any event. My wife and I recently held a private social event for roughly 100 people at our home. The event entitled Prohibition 2017 was a total success because of Iva Jean Ambush and the Ambuscade crew of Terry, Jeffrey, John and Jimmy. They were great to work with from the start, ensuring we would be satisfied with the songs selected, arrived early to set-up and than blew away the folks attending with their outstanding musical talents. I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR ANYTHING MORE! As our social will be an annual event, I have already asked Iva and her group to be ready for next year's event. I would not think of hiring anyone else. Why not go with the best....
