Pursuing the American art form of jazz since at age twelve, through study at New York's Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, many knew he had the talent to take him to great heights. He studied at Hartt School of Music in Hartford Connecticut under the tutelage of world-renowned saxophonist, Jackie McLean; the institute now recognized as the Jackie Mclean Institute of Jazz Studies. He received a BM in Jazz Studies and then moved back to his home in Brooklyn, NY and received an MA in Music Education from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music.
Some of Jazz's noteworthy musicians he has performed with include Charlie Persip's
Superband, the Michael Carvin Quintet, the Frank Lacey Vibe Tribe, the Harlem Renaissance Big Band, the Brooklyn New Art Ensemble, the Bluemoon Ensemble and the Donald Smith Band and in 2008 he was featured as a CUNY Green Artist.
Rapidly gaining respect in the jazz community as a force to be reckoned with, Beavin Lawrence and his quartet regularly performs in the NYC area while his critically acclaimed CD debut, "Infinite Possibilities", available on CDBaby stands as a testament to the seamlessly endless talent he possesses.
